Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree
  • At least five years of teaching experience
  • Middle/Secondary administrative experience preferred
  • Hold or be eligible for Rhode Island Building Level Administrator Certification
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and support changes to curriculum, instruction, and assessment that align to common core standards, NGSA, or other appropriate standards, and incorporate 21st century learning skills and our vision of a graduate
  • Lead, support, and coordinate the Senior Project
  • Maintain a visible presence in the school, on the campus, and at school-sponsored activities in a supervisory capacity – both during the school day and after school hours
  • Coordinate student support services, including 504, PLP, PMP, and MTSS, to effectively and efficiently serve all students
  • Work collaboratively with school counselors, mental health providers, deans, and student families on positive student behavioral outcomes
  • Evaluate the performance of teachers & staff and arrange a program of improvement if necessary – in accordance with RIDE standards and District Evaluation Committee guidance
  • Establish and maintain a professional culture that emphasizes perseverance, effort, accountability, team spirit and commitment to growth
  • Lead and support the facilitation of best teaching practices
  • Support teachers in classrooms and provide feedback on instructional practice
  • Facilitate the analysis of student achievement data and assist faculty in the adjustment of subsequent instruction
  • Work with special education administration to ensure compliance with state and federal law
  • Maintain connection with the school community outside of school hours through email, and in‑person as needed for urgent, important, or emergency matters
  • Lead, plan, promote, and support in‑service training of the professional staff
  • Coordinate and facilitate student orientation programs such as 9th grade transition activities
  • Build capacity for non‑traditional student learning opportunities, such as project‑based learning, virtual learning, extended learning opportunities, internships and others
  • Support pathways of study that lead to post‑secondary credit and industry certification where applicable
  • Ensure students are educated in personalized learning environments that support each student’s academic, career, and personal growth
  • Coordinate and administer local and state testing
  • Lead and support the integration of technology into a blended learning environment that supports learning in and out of school
  • Lead and support professional development that enhances the content and pedagogy of the instructional core
  • Assist in hiring of new staff
  • Support new teachers and staff in adjusting to our school community
  • Plan and coordinate orientation programs for new teachers
  • Facilitate development of school schedule, program of studies, and student handbook
  • Assign substitutes to specific duties
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
