South Kingstown School District seeks a Construction Technology/Carpentry CTE teacher to support an expanding program. The role involves instruction, curriculum development, and collaboration with colleagues to deliver project‑based learning aligned with the R.I. K‑12 Standards and NECTF guidelines.

• Design and deliver Construction Technology courses, ensuring alignment with R.I. state standards and enduring knowledge statements.
• Develop authentic learning experiences that integrate technology, project‑based and applied learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to create curricula, lesson plans, and assess student progress.
• Promote a vision that reflects an ALL STUDENTS classroom program and adhere to the R.I. Educator Code of Professional Responsibility.
• Attend professional development activities and contribute to program growth.
• Employ industry contacts to enrich the curriculum and keep students engaged with current construction practices.
• Utilize technology effectively in instruction and student learning.
• Support co‑teaching models and interdisciplinary initiatives such as robotics, PLTW Engineering, or CAD/Architectural drawing as needed.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

• At least 3 years of relevant experience in construction or carpentry (minimum 5 years preferred for industry‑based candidates).
• Industrial work experience in general construction and/or carpentry; basic knowledge of all areas of construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; a degree is not mandatory if the candidate has substantial industry experience.
• Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including lesson planning and assessment.
• Capacity to teach and adapt curriculum to technology, engineering, and architectural content.
• Willingness to earn Rhode Island certification for building construction trades or carpentry if not already held.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and industry partners.

Benefits are available for the part‑time position, with the prospect of full‑time benefits upon transition to full‑time status.
