Job Description

The Chariho Regional School District seeks a world language teacher to implement the curriculum and uphold district policies and directives at Chariho Middle School.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the curriculum and adhering to the policies and related directives of the Chariho Regional School District.
  • Promoting the attainment of the District’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
  • Displaying strong and deep knowledge of the philosophical foundations and content of the curriculum.
  • Applying current research‑based best instructional practices and strategies to deliver the curriculum.
  • Understanding how knowledge is constructed within the discipline.
  • Planning and preparing lessons to optimize learning.
  • Promoting deep understanding of content by addressing unique learning styles, adapting instruction to meet the needs of all students, engaging students in rigorous learning experiences, using effective questioning techniques, and relating instruction to the student’s life and to prior and future learning.
  • Contributing to and implementing plans, including IEPs, 504s, and individual health plans, for students with unique needs.
  • Reinforcing strong student effort and excellent student work products.
  • Facilitating student learning through the use of various collaborative grouping structures that are appropriate to the instructional task.
  • Requiring students to regularly engage in high‑level activities, including application and analysis of information.
  • Administering and interpreting various types of assessments.
  • Maintaining accurate student records through monitoring of regular formative and summative assessment of curriculum attainment; adjusting instruction for individuals and groups.
  • Making appropriate referrals and preparing credible and accurate documentation.
  • Considering student voice in establishing and enforcing effective and positive classroom rules and procedures designed to ensure safety and enhance learning.
  • Organizing all facets of the instructional delivery system so that all equipment and instructional tools are ready for use, ensuring smooth transitions, maximizing time on task, and guaranteeing the efficient distribution of resources.
  • Integrating technology to more effectively deliver the curriculum and specially designed instruction.
  • Communicating high and clear expectations.
  • Assisting students in monitoring their own progress.
  • Contributing to collaborative planning activities.
  • Consulting and collaborating regularly and professionally with colleagues, students, and parents; communicating immediately with all when there are concerns.
  • Taking responsibility for personal professional growth.
  • Participating in school events and in‑school and/or department improvement efforts.
  • Supervising and assisting with the evaluation of others, including volunteers and teacher assistants.
  • Performing administrative duties, including budgeting, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
