THE OPPORTUNITY FOR A REMOTE/HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE IS POSSIBLE AFTER SIX MONTHS.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Serve as liaison to all new and continuing transfer students in the College of Arts and Sciences, ensuring them easy navigation of the University's academic programs. Work with the college's Student Academic Services team to provide support for all transfer students and for faculty, staff, and administration who serve those students.
Duties and Responsibilities
KEY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluate and post transfer credit for Arts and Sciences students, including study abroad credits, National Student Exchange, and test credits as necessary.
Provide transitional support for Arts and Sciences transfer students with tasks such as ensuring all transcripts are submitted, accessing and understanding their transfer credit evaluations, and connecting with their academic department and/or advisor.
Understand and be able to communicate the Joint Admission Agreement (JAA) program requirements to students, faculty, and staff; keep informed of updates and changes to these programs as necessary.
Work with online student records systems.
Understand and be able to explain the RI state articulation agreement, while keeping informed of updates and changes to the agreement in conjunction with the Transfer Resource Center.
Help update and maintain URI's Transfer Equivalency System (TES), including updating of database, in conjunction with Assistant Dean, department chairs, other degree-granting colleges, and the Transfer Resource Center.
Interpret and explain University transfer credit policies to students, faculty, department administrators, and parents.
Assist with transfer student orientation and advising days; plan and execute programs and events for Arts and Sciences transfer students as required and/or necessary.
Collaborate with University College for Academic Success advisors to identify incoming transfer students who should be moved to the degree-granting college.
Liaise with Athletics regarding pre-evaluation and credit posting for transfer athletes in Arts and Sciences majors (NCAA eligibility.)
Maintain relationships with Transfer Resource Center, Admission, and Enrollment Services in order to ensure consistency of transfer services and information.
Coordinate and support A&S departments with study abroad course equivalencies.
OTHER
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support students from the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI).
When appropriate, teach First-Year seminar as assigned.
Participate on university committee(s), training(s), conference(s), etc. representing your academic unit as assigned.
Advising may include student support, especially in 4+1 and ABM programs when appropriate.
Perform other duties as assigned.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Computers and printers; database management, and spreadsheet software; student record-keeping systems.
