Associate Professor, Nursing

The University of Rhode Island is searching for a tenure-track Associate Professor to begin Fall 2026. The URI College of Nursing is committed to scientific inquiry, knowledge development, and excellence in teaching. We have built a robust research portfolio and innovative undergraduate and graduate programs that support our mission to prepare nurses to excel as outstanding clinicians, scholars, and leaders who will enhance the health and health care of individuals, families, communities, and populations both locally and globally.

We seek a dynamic faculty member to join us as we continue to grow. The successful candidate will have an appointment with the College of Nursing with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the campus and external partners. The candidate will serve as a senior member of the faculty and will be expected to have a program of research supported by extramural funding in an area that complements the mission of the College of Nursing.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the University's teaching mission and participate in service activities.

Essential duties and responsibilities include contributing to the undergraduate and graduate teaching mission of the University by mentoring students and teaching courses for the college; maintaining a robust program of research germane to nursing and health that is extramurally funded; maintaining a high level of dissemination of scholarship as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings; providing leadership in innovative and emerging teaching pedagogies, national and/or international professional organizations, and in service to the college through faculty mentorship;

and serving on college and University committees.

Other duties and responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications required include a PhD degree, recognized leader in the field at a national level (e.g., Fellow in the AAN or AANP), eligible for tenure in the College of Nursing, demonstrated experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, demonstrated research record evidenced by external funding, demonstrated evidence of publications in established journals, demonstrated excellence in written communication skills, demonstrated excellence in oral communication skills, demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated clinical expertise in area of specialization, clinical expertise in pediatrics, psychiatric-mental health, gerontology, or other area complementary to the faculty and college needs, demonstrated ability to write competitive applications for extramural funding, eligible for RN licensure in Rhode Island, and demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
