The Department of Sociology and Anthropology in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks part-time faculty to teach sociology courses on a per-course basis. For Fall 2026 we seek someone able to teach SOC
100, Introduction to the Sociological Perspective, and/or SOC
212, Sociology of the Family. These courses meet in-person on MWF for Fall 2026 and are at the undergraduate level.

KEY

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A selected candidate will teach one (1) or two (2) courses in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Part-time faculty are not required to engage in research or service activities but must hold regular office hours and be available to assist students enrolled in their courses. They are expected to stay current in their fields of instruction and with pedagogical methods and instructional technologies.

Most courses are three (3) credits. In-person courses meet for approximately three (3) hours per week over the course of an approximately fourteen (14) week semester. Classes meet during the day at the Kingston campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

1. Master's or doctoral degree in sociology, or a closely related field with substantial background in sociology at time of application.

2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred:

1. Experience teaching sociology or closely related field at the college level.

2. Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas:
Introductory sociology, sociology of the family at the college level.
