Job DescriptionThe Chariho Regional School District is seeking applicants for a full-time District Reading Consultant/Specialist. Probable assignment at an elementary school.
- Implements the English language arts curriculum and adheres to district policies and directives.
- Seeks opportunities for integration with other disciplines.
- Promotes the attainment of the District’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
- Displays strong knowledge of the curriculum’s philosophical foundations and content.
- Applies research‑based best instructional practices and strategies.
- Provides targeted literacy instruction to accelerate student reading and writing achievement.
- Serves as a consultant and resource to classroom teachers.
- Screens, identifies, and services students eligible for supplemental reading services.
- Attends MDT, 504, and IEP meetings upon request.
- Schedules and attends parent conferences.
- Keeps records, reports, and data on students receiving supplemental reading services; presents data as requested.
- Assists with local and state assessment administration.
- Participates in district and school curriculum review and assessment efforts.
- Teaches demonstration lessons.
- Assists any District reading consultants.
- Integrates technology to enhance curriculum delivery and instruction.
- Communicates high and clear expectations.
- Assists students in monitoring their own progress.
- Contributes to collaborative planning activities.
- Consults and collaborates regularly with colleagues, students, and parents; communicates promptly about concerns.
- Takes responsibility for personal professional growth.
- Participates in school events and improvement efforts.
- Supervises and assists with evaluating others, including volunteers and teacher assistants.
- Performs administrative duties as appropriate, including budgeting and ordering supplies.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
