We help child care providers learn about best practices in early learning and apply them to the care children receive. We recognize program quality and give parents information to make choices about their children’s care and education.

Teacher Responsibilities at Little Scholars Preschool- Daily:
- Maintaining a clean and organized classroom
- Question of the day
- Calendar
- Literacy curriculum
- Weekly:
- Curriculum: meeting RIELDS through play‑based curriculum
- Sending home projects
- Monthly:
- Newsletter blurb
- Curriculum review – plan themes a month in advance for approval to ensure you have supplies needed
- Refreshing materials, books and manipulatives
- Trimesters:
- Children assessments
- Fall observations
- Winter assessment: PTC conferences
- Spring assessment: PTC conferences
- Other:
- Plan holiday parties:
Halloween, Christmas, Easter - Family gifts:
Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day - Community gifts:
Mail carrier, Police, Fire, Librarian, Preschool events/visitors, Fire Dept, Veteran, Santa Visit, Police Dept, Dentist, Easter Bunny, Librarian, Animal Experiences - Employee Evaluations/Review: IPDP, Self‑evaluation, Mid‑year review, End of the year review
- Professional Development: 20 hours

- Option 1:
The individual holds a High School Diploma with a vocational concentration in childcare and has two (2) years supervised experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program. - Option 2:
The individual holds a high school diploma or a General Education Development (GED) certificate and has three (3) years supervised experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program. - Option 3:
The individual holds a Child Development Associate (CDA) and has one (1) year supervised experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program. - Option 4:
The individual has completed twelve (12) credits in Early Childhood Education or a field related to Early Childhood Education from an accredited institution of higher education and has at least three (3) months supervised experience in a licensed/approved Early Childhood Program. - Option 5:
The individual holds an associate’s degree or higher in a field related to Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services or Recreation from an accredited institution of higher education.
