History of the Wolf School

The Wolf School, a small independent day school in East Providence, was founded to provide a unique educational environment for children with multiple learning differences in grades K-8, enabling them to reach their full academic and social potential. The founding members created a model that emphasizes core grade-level skills taught through a therapeutically guided curriculum, leading to significant academic and social gains for our students.

Job Requirements
  • Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • RI Special Education Certification (required)
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience with children who have special needs
  • Knowledge of multi-sensory teaching techniques
  • Training and knowledge of a variety of academic programs and methods for teaching math and reading
  • Knowledge of classroom behavior management
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Responsibilities
  • Work with students in various settings, develop and modify a therapeutically guided curriculum, generate reports to meet students’ needs, communicate with families, coordinate with therapists, and plan for teaching assistants
  • Work with occupational therapists, speech therapists, and teaching assistants to support student goals within Wolf’s Immersion Model©
  • Carry out goals on student IEPs and Wolf Learning Plans, and document quarterly progress
  • Plan for teaching assistants to reinforce and integrate lessons and activities across all content areas
  • Integrate and support educational technology resources in the classroom
  • Communicate with and update families on a regular basis
  • Teach and plan for all academic content areas
  • Prepare for and attend IEP and parent meetings; consistently collect and present data to explain student progress
  • Implement positive reinforcement systems and behavior management techniques
  • Administer academic screenings/assessments to develop individualized Wolf Learning Plans and student IEPs
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and all team meetings
  • Complete educational reports twice a year
  • Participate in parent conferences three times a year
  • Consult with teachers, parents, administrators, and outside professionals regarding classroom and home interventions
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
  • Coordinate with integrated art and music programs to support curricular study
  • Maintain documentation and data collection as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
