The Prout School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Cross Country Coach to lead our high school cross country program. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the course and who embraces the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and personal growth.

• Plan and lead daily practices and training sessions.
• Develop athletes of all ability levels while fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
• Coach and supervise the team at meets and school-sponsored events.
• Promote sportsmanship, leadership, and personal responsibility.
• Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, and school administration.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants.
• Maintain compliance with school, league, and state athletic association policies.

In the Catholic tradition, Prout is committed to empowering students to grow intellectually, spiritually and socially in an atmosphere of Christian giving. We offer rigorous college preparatory and honors programs, as well as AP and the advanced International Baccalaureate Program, an intensive two-year program in which students can earn credits at most colleges and universities.

This is the only program of its kind in Rhode Island and one of only fourteen in New England.

We also offer a competitive athletic program. Many of our teams have made playoffs in recent years and we boast several league, division and state champion teams. Our extracurricular activities go beyond athletics, with clubs such as, Mock Trial, SADD, La Sallian Youth, Yearbook, Jazz Band, French Club and more.

Our award winning Visual & Performing Arts program offers opportunities for students to express their more creative side. Our program includes, acting, stage management, pottery, drawing, painting, sculpture, guitar, band, chorus, show chorus, dance and much more. We have two main stage productions, a drama in the fall and a musical in the  addition to our academic and extra-curricular programs, we also place a strong emphasis on service and community.

We encourage students to reach out to those in need and to assume responsibility for making their world a better place, entering into a lifelong personal relationship with Jesus as a role model, friend and guide. The end result is well-rounded graduates who are rooted in faith, educated in mind and compassionate in heart.

• Qualifications
• Previous cross country and/or track & field coaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of distance training principles, injury prevention, and athlete development.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to inspire and mentor high school students.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Successful completion of all required background checks and school employment requirements.
• At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
