Kindergarten Long-Term Substitute Teacher

Kingston Hill Academy (KHA), a high-performing public charter school serving students in grades K–5, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kindergarten Long-Term Substitute Teacher to join our school community.

The successful candidate will provide consistent, high-quality instruction and maintain a positive, nurturing, and structured classroom environment during the regular classroom teacher's absence. The long-term substitute will work collaboratively with school administration, faculty, and support staff to ensure continuity of instruction and student learning.

• Provide daily instruction aligned with KHA's curriculum, instructional expectations, and grade-level standards.
• Implement established lesson plans and develop instructional materials as needed.
• Maintain consistent classroom routines, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
• Differentiate instruction to address the academic, developmental, and social-emotional needs of Kindergarten students.
• Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate student records and documentation.
• Communicate professionally and appropriately with families regarding student learning and classroom matters.
• Collaborate with grade-level teachers, specialists, support staff, and school administration.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school responsibilities as required.
• Maintain student confidentiality and comply with all KHA policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties consistent with the responsibilities of a Kindergarten classroom teacher.

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Appropriate Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) educator certification for the Kindergarten assignment, as required for a long-term substitute placement.
• Early Childhood Education (PK–3) or Elementary Education (K–6) certification preferred, as applicable to the assignment.
• Previous experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly Kindergarten students, preferred.
• Strong classroom-management, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to creating a safe, respectful, inclusive, and academically engaging learning environment.

The ideal candidate is student-centered, dependable, flexible, and able to provide stability and continuity for young learners. The candidate should demonstrate strong instructional practices and a willingness to collaborate closely with KHA's faculty and administration.
