Job Summary
Sr Engineer, Facilities & Utilities – ARI Engineering Projects. Provides technical leadership and project execution support for site infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering, and fire/life safety initiatives at a regulated biotechnology manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Lead and support capital and infrastructure projects related to site utilities, facility modifications, civil/site development, fire protection systems, and manufacturing support infrastructure.
- Coordinate cross‑functional project activities from concept through commissioning, qualification, startup, and turnover.
- Provide technical oversight for architectural, MEP, civil and structural design; fire protection and fire alarm engineering design; stormwater and drainage systems; site access and infrastructure modifications; utility routing and facility integration.
- Ensure compliance with local town, municipal codes, fire and life safety requirements, environmental regulations, and corporate engineering standards.
- Serve as the site interface for town officials, fire marshals, building inspectors, external engineering firms, and FM Global representatives.
- Support permitting strategy, inspections, and regulatory approvals for site projects and infrastructure modifications.
- Partner with Facilities & Engineering, Manufacturing, EHSS, Automation, and Capital Project teams to minimize operational impact during project execution.
- Support outage planning, construction sequencing, operational readiness, and startup activities.
- Participate in engineering risk assessments, constructability reviews, and project governance activities.
- Drive technical problem solving, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives across site infrastructure systems.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
- Manage engineering design processes and support projects during funding cycles, bid and buy‑out processes, and construction development.
- Provide general site engineering support for existing systems and infrastructure, including repair/maintenance guidance and troubleshooting.
- Support the site fire protection maintenance program.
- Basic qualifications:
High school diploma/GED and 10 years of engineering experience; OR Associate’s degree and 8 years of engineering experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of engineering experience; OR Master’s degree and 2 years of engineering experience. - Preferred qualifications:
Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline; experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, GMP, or highly regulated manufacturing environments. - Knowledge of IBC, NFPA, FM Global standards, OSHA regulations, and municipal permitting processes.
- Experience with capital project management, facilities engineering, infrastructure upgrades, construction management, and commissioning & qualification (C&Q).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to influence cross‑functional teams and external agencies.
- Demonstrated experience balancing compliance, operational needs, and project schedules, and supporting operational readiness and outage execution.
- Experience with walk‑in freezers/cold rooms, HVAC systems, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, laminar flow benches, chillers, cooling tower systems, fire protection, fire alarm, closed‑loop pumping, electrical systems/motor controls, building automation, building occupancy types including H‑Room, chemical storage, laboratory equipment and gasses, vacuum systems, boilers, steam/condensate handling, compressed air/gases, cryo‑gasses, cryo‑freezers, fuel handling, chemical and fuel tank farms, data center, architectural/roofing systems, elevators, material handling equipment, warehouse systems, racking, loading dock equipment, parking structures, underground piping and utilities.
