Position Summary:

This role plays a crucial part in enhancing customer experience, boosting sales, and providing in-depth product knowledge while ensuring the safety and integrity of the paint department.

• Deliver exceptional and swift sales service by proactively engaging customers to assess their needs and offer assistance.
• Provide valuable insights on product features and benefits to facilitate the sale of comprehensive project solutions.
• Greet customers, assess their requirements, recommend suitable products, and efficiently finalize sales.
• Address and resolve customer issues and concerns effectively.
• Possess foundational knowledge of related departments for cohesive support.
• Acquire detailed knowledge about various paint types such as premium vs. economy, and finishes including flat, satin, eggshell, and semi-gloss.
• Demonstrate expertise in faux and decorative finishes, alongside identifying and explaining painters' tools like paint sprayers, power washers, edgers, rollers, and brushes.
• Educate customers on the different applications of adhesives, solvents, and caulk.
• Maintain stock levels in the assigned area, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and organization.
• Collaborate effectively with store management and other departments to fulfill customer needs.
• Utilize matching and mixing equipment to create paint, requiring visual precision in distinguishing color variations.
• Take charge of training and mentoring store associates in the paint department.
• Drive the growth of the Business To Business (B2B) paint segment.
• Participate in mandatory monthly store meetings.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by store management.

High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred. Retail experience is a plus.

Capable of reading and interpreting documents, and articulating ideas effectively to groups.

Proficient in calculating figures and handling basic mathematical concepts.

Competent in solving practical problems amid limited standardization while interpreting a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.

Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash registers is essential. Familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce, Epicor Eagle, or Benjamin Moore's web portal is advantageous.

No certifications are required.

This position does not include supervisory duties.

The work environment typically has moderate noise levels. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary to meet retail demands.

The job entails the following physical requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 4 hours or more consecutively.
• Capable of handling merchandise for scanning, bagging, and placing it in customer shopping carts.
• Ability to use a scanner and operate computer equipment for transactions.
• Can lift and manage merchandise boxes, typically lifting 7 to 10 lbs, with occasional lifting above 40 lbs.
• Regularly bending, climbing, and twisting, including moving and stocking products.
• Manual dexterity for operating cash registers and computers, as well as assembling some products.
• Proficient in reading product labels and conveying knowledge to customers.
