Compensation

All About Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. They are experts of operations, process and efficiency. This team leads food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing and promotional signing for all areas of the store.

Role

of a Food & Beverage Expert

The role includes guest service fundamentals, providing information on purchases, storage tips, business fundamentals such as sales trends, inventory, quality, freshness, food safety, merchandising, seasonality and promotions. A typical day will include responsibilities such as:

  • Deliver an exceptional guest experience, prioritizing the guest’s needs over tasks.
  • Uphold and maintain Food & Beverage Standards.
  • Execute processes including deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in‑stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing and organizing reserve product.
  • Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
  • Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
  • Work with vendors to proactively set, maintain and make planned changes to salesfloor merchandise displays and keep organized backroom space.
  • Locate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process according to policies.
  • Be knowledgeable about tools, products and services available to improve guest experience.
  • Execute all federal, state and local adult beverage laws.
  • Appropriately use and care for equipment and PPE; follow equipment control guidelines.
  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work in a safe manner, comply with safety policies and report hazards.
  • Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick‑up (OPU) and Drive‑up (DU) while maintaining compliance culture.
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and engaging with them in a welcoming way.
  • Other duties based on business needs.
What We Are Looking For

Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery Only). Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed. Work both independently and with a team. Resolve guest questions quickly. Attention to detail and follow multi‑step processes.

Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established time frames.

Additional Requirements
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Climb up and down ladders.
  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds.
  • Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance.
  • Work in temperature range 34°F to –10°F.
  • Work in environments with allergens and varying temperature, humidity, and other elements.
  • Remain mobile for the duration of shift.
