Associate Pilot Plant

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an Associate Pilot Plant for an Onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in West Greenwich, RI. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.

This role supports the execution of cell culture processes and downstream purification within a pilot-scale lab environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in cell culture, including aseptic handling and familiarity with bioreactors, and will be responsible for supporting large-scale harvest operations and various routine lab tasks. This position requires working 100% onsite with a flexible schedule, primarily Monday to Friday with the possibility of some weekend work.

Responsibilities:

• Support the execution of cell culture processes, including aseptic vial thaw and cell culture flask passaging in a biosafety cabinet through benchtop and single-use bioreactors
• Support large-scale harvest operations through downstream purification, including chromatography, filtration, and Ultra-Filtration/Diafiltration (UF/DF)
• Perform routine tasks such as in-process sampling, operation of laboratory analyzers, and management of samples
• Collect scientific data via electronic laboratory notebooks and compound media/buffer solutions
• Execute Clean-In-Place (CIP), Steam-In-Place (SIP), equipment assembly/disassembly, and routine maintenance of benchtop analyzers
• Escort and provide oversight of vendors, manage inventory stocking, and maintain general lab organization and cleaning
• Utilize scientific principles in the execution of experiments and analysis of data
• Document data and process information in accordance with good documentation practices

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related science or engineering field (e.g., biology, chemistry, biopharmaceutical sciences) OR Associate's degree and 6 months work experience OR High school/GED + 2 years work experience
• Experience in cell culture (mammalian or microbial) is crucial, including aseptic handling and familiarity with bioreactors
• Some exposure to chromatography, filtration (UF/DF), and data analysis
• Basic knowledge of process automation systems and scientific documentation, including notebooks and batch records
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and show initiative
• Adaptability and flexibility to shifting priorities and schedules
• Strong attention to detail, especially in scientific documentation and lab procedures
• Ability to collaborate well within a team environment
• Primarily Monday to Friday with flexibility between 7 AM - 5 PM, but some weekend work may be required on a volunteer or rotational basis.

Desired skills:

• Prior hands-on experience in pilot- or large-scale cell culture or downstream purification process development or manufacturing
• Experience with automated computer-controlled biopharmaceutical equipment
• Knowledge of process data compilation and analysis
• Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Pay range: up to $29.58 per hour
