Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer
Salary: $40 to $43.50 per hour
Job SummaryRepairs, adjusts, and replaces all aspects of the facilities plumbing system, including waste‑vent‑water piping, valves, and related fixtures and equipment. The position is a 1st Shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM, Monday‑Friday).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work with local and state inspectors from the Water, Sewer, and Fire Departments.
- Repair or replace defective plumbing equipment.
- Coordinate functions of outside vendors and contractors as needed.
- Assist in the coordination of shutdowns of the plumbing systems as required.
- Receive work orders and coordinate work to fit the daily schedule assigned by the department director or designee.
- Maintain the facilities plumbing systems.
- Respond to emergency calls from facility departments for immediate assistance.
- Perform preventive maintenance on related equipment as assigned and report deficiencies.
- Maintain necessary stock and tools to keep the system operational.
- Keep the work area and equipment clean and orderly.
- Coordinate repairs with other departments.
- Install plumbing systems and accessories as necessary.
- Conduct daily rounds of building and related equipment.
- Report deficiencies on specific jobs or equipment.
- Assist other trades and participate in facilities emergency events per policy.
- Support and review work of outside vendors.
- Maintain mechanical spaces per the Quality Assurance Program.
- Document work per departmental procedures.
- Complete safety and technical training assigned by the department director.
- Wear appropriate PPE and protective gear as required.
- Customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Problem‑solving ability.
- Team collaboration and professionalism.
- Capability to lift medium and/or heavy tools up to 50 lb.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, hand and power tools, and maintenance supplies.
- High School Diploma or GED, or 2 years of skilled trade or vocational training.
- Valid, unencumbered driver’s license.
- Two years of plumbing experience in a commercial, industrial, or healthcare setting.
