The Burrillville School Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Social Worker 1-Year Only position for an elementary school, grades 2 through

PURPOSE:
The School Social Worker promotes and enhances the overall academic mission by providing services that strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. The School Social Worker significantly contributes to the development of a healthy, safe and caring environment by advancing the understanding of emotional and social development of children, including the influences of family, community and cultural differences on student's success by implementing effective intervention strategies.
The School Social Worker's function supports the Rhode Island regulations, the vision of the Burrillville School Department and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics and School Social Work Standards.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- School Social Workers must hold a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.
- School Social Workers hold a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
- School Social Workers must receive 30 hours of approved continuing education, 3 of which must be in Professional Ethical Practice and 3 in Cross Cultural Competence. (Only six hours of the continuing education requirement may be in distance learning. The rest of the hours must be in face-to-face/other learning format that allows for participant/faculty interaction.)
- Conceptual, interpersonal and social skills necessary for position performance.
- Demonstrated commitment to the implementation of high standards for all students.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff.
- Demonstrated ability to interact successfully with parents in the support of students.
