A day in the lifeAs the Maintenance leader at Thompson Pipe Group, you start your shift with a plant walk. You greet your Maintenance Mechanics and Technicians, review overnight work orders in MaintainX (or similar CMMS), and set priorities for equipment repairs, DOT fleet compliance checks, and critical-path jobs on heavy equipment. By mid-morning, you’re coaching a tech on a hydraulic troubleshooting procedure, confirming a welding repair conforms to the work order and cost estimate, and coordinating with an electrician to safely lock out a motor circuit.
After lunch, you’re approving parts purchases, updating labor and materials records, and riding along in a light truck to pick up an urgent component. You close the day with 5S audits, safety check-ins, and preparing performance feedback for your team.
