About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Environmental Scientist to join their team in Richards Bay , focusing on contamination assessment and remediation. This role is vital for evaluating environmental impacts, developing strategies to mitigate pollution, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. You will be responsible for conducting field investigations, laboratory analysis coordination, and preparing detailed reports for clients and regulatory bodies.
The ideal candidate is passionate about environmental protection and possesses strong analytical and field assessment skills.
- Conduct comprehensive site assessments to identify and characterize environmental contamination (soil, water, air).
- Develop and implement field sampling plans using appropriate methodologies and equipment.
- Coordinate with external laboratories for sample analysis and interpret results to determine the extent and nature of contamination.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, including site characterization, risk assessment, and remediation recommendations.
- Assist in the design and implementation of environmental remediation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, regional, and national environmental regulations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental consulting or site assessment.
- Proven experience in conducting field investigations and collecting environmental samples (soil, groundwater, air).
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and risk assessment principles.
- Proficiency in data interpretation and report writing.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites as needed.
