Senior Geologist - Exploration

Our client, a key player in the Oil & Gas industry, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geologist specializing in Exploration to join their established team in Richards Bay, Kwa Zulu-Natal . This critical role involves identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon reserves through advanced geological analysis and prospect generation. You will utilize cutting-edge technologies and collaborate closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to de-risk exploration opportunities.

This position requires extensive field knowledge and a commitment to driving exploration success in a dynamic and challenging environment. The role is based on-site, fostering close collaboration and rapid decision-making within the operational hub of Richards Bay .

• Interpret geological and geophysical data to identify and characterize potential hydrocarbon plays.
• Develop and evaluate exploration prospects, including risk assessment and volumetric estimations.
• Integrate subsurface data from various sources (seismic, well logs, core data) to build comprehensive geological models.
• Collaborate with the exploration team to plan and execute seismic acquisition and processing programs.
• Provide geological input for drilling exploration wells, including prognosis and wellsite supervision.
• Stay abreast of the latest exploration technologies and methodologies.

• Master's degree in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in hydrocarbon exploration geology, preferably within the Oil & Gas sector .
• Strong proficiency in geological software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and seismic interpretation techniques.
• Proven ability to assess geological risk and uncertainty.
• Excellent understanding of basin analysis, sedimentology, and structural geology.
• Experience working in the geological context of Kwa Zulu-Natal is a significant advantage.
