About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the logistics and transport sector, is seeking a highly competent Heavy Duty Mechanic to join their maintenance team in Richards Bay . This role is critical for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of their fleet of trucks and heavy vehicles. You will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other complex components unique to heavy-duty equipment.

- Perform routine maintenance and major repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, and suspension systems of heavy-duty vehicles.
- Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, air brake systems, and electrical components specific to heavy trucks.
- Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to pinpoint and resolve mechanical failures.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and labor hours.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards to minimize vehicle downtime.
- Certified Heavy Duty Mechanic or equivalent trade qualification.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands‑on experience maintaining and repairing commercial trucks and heavy machinery.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, powertrains, and associated systems.
- Experience with hydraulic systems and air brake systems is essential.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics for heavy‑duty equipment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is advantageous.
