Agricultural Extension Officer

Our client is seeking a dedicated Agricultural Extension Officer to provide vital support and advisory services to farmers in and around Richards Bay . This role is instrumental in bridging the gap between agricultural research and practical farm application, helping farmers adopt modern, sustainable, and profitable farming techniques. You will be responsible for conducting training, providing on-site consultations, and disseminating information on best practices in crop production, soil management, and market access.

The ideal candidate is passionate about rural development and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Conduct field visits and provide technical advice to farmers on crop cultivation, pest control, and soil health.
• Organize and facilitate training workshops and farmer field days to share knowledge and new technologies.
• Assist farmers in planning and implementing sustainable agricultural practices.
• Facilitate access to agricultural inputs, credit, and market information for farming communities.
• Monitor agricultural trends and challenges in the region and report back to management.
• Collaborate with local government agricultural departments and NGOs to enhance service delivery.
• Document case studies and success stories to showcase the impact of extension services.

• Degree or National Diploma in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in agricultural extension services or a similar advisory role.
• Strong knowledge of crop production, soil science, and sustainable farming methods relevant to the region.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel extensively within rural areas.
• Proficiency in local languages is advantageous.
