Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician to contribute to their operations in Richards Bay . This role is essential for maintaining the mechanical integrity and operational efficiency of plant machinery and equipment. You will be tasked with performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules. • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical failures, utilizing precision tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to facilitate repairs and installations.
• Conduct repairs involving welding, machining, and fabrication as needed.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are documented accurately in the CMMS system.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, and maintain a safe working environment in Richards Bay .

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician or in a comparable role.
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission systems.
• Proficiency with mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and basic machining skills.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Experience with welding and fabrication is a plus.
• Must be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a maintenance team.
