Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Vehicle Mechanic to join their dedicated maintenance team in Richards Bay. This role is crucial for ensuring the operational readiness and safety of their fleet of heavy-duty vehicles, including trucks and buses. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing complex mechanical issues, and executing repairs to minimize downtime and keep the fleet moving efficiently.
This is a hands-on position for a professional who understands the demands of commercial vehicle maintenance and is committed to high-quality workmanship within a safety-conscious environment.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose mechanical failures using diagnostic tools, and perform necessary repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, identifying and reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment to service and repair commercial vehicles effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities performed on each vehicle.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Commercial Vehicle Mechanic or Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience with brake systems, suspension, and electrical systems on commercial vehicles.
- Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools specific to commercial vehicles is essential.
- A strong understanding of vehicle safety standards and regulations.
- Possession of a valid driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.
