The General Construction Engineer / Estimator will support pre‑construction planning, cost estimating, and project coordination for a growing general contractor serving the Richardson, TX market.
This role is based in Richardson and focuses on ground‑up and renovation work for single‑family homes throughout the Richardson, TX area. Candidates must have hands‑on experience preparing estimates, reviewing plans, and supporting field operations.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for single‑family residential projects in Richardson, TX.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings to identify scope, materials, and labor requirements.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive pricing.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, tracking cost changes throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with actual construction activities.
- Assist with value engineering efforts to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
- Support permit documentation, scheduling coordination, and compliance with local building codes in Richardson.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and project‑related documentation.
- 5+ years of experience in construction estimating or construction engineering.
- Direct experience with single‑family residential construction projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software and construction management tools (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore, Plan Swift, Bluebeam, or similar).

- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
