The Jindal School of Management seeks to hire a Director of Freshman Entrepreneurship and Innovation Scholars Program (50%
FTE appointment). The successful candidate will be appointed as a non-tenure system faculty member (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Practice based on qualifications and experience). The Director is responsible for recruiting and teaching high-potential student founders beginning in their first year at UT Dallas. The program identifies and attracts entrepreneurially-minded freshmen and provides a structured pathway from early ideation through venture launch by graduation.
The Director will build and manage an ecosystem that integrates academic programs, industry mentors, alumni, and entrepreneurial resources to ensure students make measurable progress toward launching viable startups.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Design and lead a four-year developmental pathway that supports students from freshman entry through startup launch.
- Lead the recruitment strategy targeting incoming freshmen with demonstrated entrepreneurial interest and potential.
- Build partnerships with incubators, accelerators, investors, and corporate innovation teams.
- Interface with other schools on campus to ensure interdisciplinary engagement.
- Create and support mentor programs.
- Create and execute events to publicize and showcase student entrepreneurs.
- Teach courses in the program.
Requirements:
- Experience in entrepreneurship, startup development, or venture support.
- Experience in student-facing program management, higher education leadership, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to engage external stakeholders and build partnerships.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both high school and college audiences.
The level of appointment will be determined based on educational background, industry experience, and teaching experience. The appointment commences for the fall 2026 semester.
Minimum
Education and Experience:
A master's or doctoral degree in a business or entrepreneurship related field with a record of productivity and professional achievement.
Preferred
Education and Experience:
Substantial industry experience (at least five to ten years) in entrepreneurship and prior experience developing and leading or exiting new ventures strongly preferred and will weigh heavily in the review process.

Qualifications:
To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence.
- Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes.
- Contribute assessment information and data as requested.
- Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- Establish and/or continue an independent line of research.
- Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication.
- Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints.
- Teach four (4) classes each academic year.
