Part-time Lecturer - Moot Court Instructor and Coach

Job Summary

Lecturers teach one or more undergraduate and/or graduate sections in a given term. Appointments carry no guarantee or expectation of renewal or tenure. The Office of Undergraduate Education and the Pre‑Law Advising Center are seeking a Part‑Time Lecturer to teach Moot Court to undergraduate students and to coach teams selected to compete in invitational and regional moot court competitions. Lecturers teach one undergraduate Moot Court course each semester and attend live and virtual moot court competitions as scheduled.

Minimum

Education and Experience:

An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline/topic and a record of productivity and professional achievement.

Preferred

Education and Experience:

An earned JD from an ABA‑accredited law school, and at least five years of experience in the legal profession. Some experience in appellate practice is preferred.

• Prepare and teach undergraduate classes and/or labs on appellate advocacy and moot court competition.
• Maintain contact with students in the classroom and via electronic learning platforms.
• Contribute assessment information and data as requested by the administration and the Assessment Team.
• Participate in course evaluation surveys.
• Contribute to the development and execution of moot court curriculum and instruction.

• Maintain contact with and schedule participation in practices and competitions for members of the moot court team.
• Attend both virtual and in‑person moot court tournaments and act as the representative of the university.
• Travel, including weekend travel by air, operation of rental vehicles, and supervision of university students during participation at out‑of‑town events.
• Compliance with any security or integrity requirements associated with critical infrastructure where applicable.
