Position Description

The Teen Services Professional (TSP) is a part‑time, hourly position working with our youth to provide hands‑on delivery of daily in‑house programming including social recreation, team‑building activities, and an overall environment to build positive relationships.

Under the supervision of the Director of Teen Services, a TSP assists with the development and operation of our after‑school program. The TSP helps create a welcoming and safe environment for members, aligns new members to program areas, special events, and opportunities, and provides support by monitoring behavior, providing instruction, and engaging with members and parents.

The TSP develops and delivers the BGCD and BGCA suite of teen programs ranging from college preparation, workforce exploration, esports, arts and crafts, the food program, low‑organized games, outdoor activities, special events, summer program, and group clubs.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, After school, according to club needs.

• Build meaningful relationships with members.
• Deliver age‑appropriate programs and activities that reflect Boys & Girls Club’s five core program areas for teens ages 13–18.
• Assist with recruitment to reach 100 teen club members.
• Transport club teens to various programs in BGC vans.
• Ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities.
• Orient new members to program area, special events, and opportunities as well as club safety, program, and disciplinary rules.
• Implement, monitor, and evaluate programs, services, and activities for members.
• Maintain program area clean and attractive; keep bulletin boards current.
• Assist the Program Director in all phases of the overall Club operation.
• Manage membership administration and program registration.
• Assume other tasks, assignments, and responsibilities as needed or directed.
• Build positive relationships with BGC staff, kids, parents, community stakeholders, visitors, and volunteers.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 21 years of age or older.
• At least one year of experience working with children.
• Experience with youth and knowledge of youth development.
• Formal training or experience teaching youth and creating engaging learning experiences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driving record to operate 15‑passenger vans.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.

Previous experience as a Youth Development Professional.

• Valid Texas Driver’s License.

• Ability to de‑escalate problems and problem‑solve during day‑to‑day club activities.
• Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
• Ability to control and manage a group through different activities.
