The Global Field Group (GFG) at Applied Materials is the frontline organization responsible for installing, sustaining, and optimizing the industry’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment at customer sites worldwide. GFG partners closely with customers to ensure tools operate at peak performance, enabling reliable, high‑volume production of leading‑edge chips. Through a combination of deep technical expertise, rapid problem‑solving, and close collaboration with engineering and product teams, GFG plays a critical role in turning innovation into real‑world manufacturing success.
As a Process Support Engineer (PSE) you will guide products through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept to final qualification, providing high‑visibility customer support through on‑site installations, system diagnostics, and the service and repair of complex systems and equipment. You will work closely with customers and R&D teams, develop leading‑edge processes used to manufacture advanced semiconductor chips, create hypothesis experiments, and design of experiments (DoEs).
You will analyze data with statistics, compile reports with high‑level conclusions, troubleshoot complex problems, perform root‑cause analyses, and resolve difficult process engineering and customer product issues. Technologies include Chemical Vapor Deposition, Atomic Layer Deposition, Plasma Reactive Ion Etch, Physical Vapor Deposition, Anneal, and Implant.
- Serve as liaison between the customer and the Business Unit for assigned projects, ensuring clear understanding of customer issues and delivery of applicable solutions.
- When necessary, work closely with customers to optimize tool performance to meet customer process and integration requirements.
- Check and approve operational quality of system equipment; instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
- Provide highly visible customer support through on‑site installation and oversee diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
- Maintain knowledge of at least 3 processes on 1 or more technologies.
- Minimum 5 years in Semiconductor Capital Equipment or similar high‑tech industry.
- Preferred experience:
3+ years in Applications or Process Engineering. - Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field.
