Senior Component Engineer
Location:
Richardson, TX (also available in Cedar Rapids, IA; Colorado Springs, CO; Windsor Locks, CT). U.S.
-based role. Security clearance required:
DoD Secret clearance (must have, and able to obtain Top-Secret).
Senior Component Engineer (Product Component Engineer) supports design engineering, manufacturing, program management, procurement, obsolescence, quality, and supply chain functions. Responsibilities include supporting the entire component lifecycle for programs, from new product introduction to obsolescence, and improving component health, producibility, and cost effectiveness.
Responsibilities- Consult with design engineering on part selection, qualification of components, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Address part shortages, obsolescence, and technology roadmap management.
- Understand preferred technologies, source of supply, and acceptance criteria for assigned programs.
- Apply techniques for documentation and release of components, processes, and design guidelines.
- Review Bills of Materials to ensure optimal health of components.
- Perform failure and root-cause analysis and corrective action on assigned programs.
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend new components, materials, and manufacturers for product improvements.
- Analyze parametric data, preference codes, and obsolescence prediction data.
- Provide general technical support for bidding/negotiation, data collection, and analysis.
- Generate reports on technical issues such as hazardous material, fungicide, shelf life, ESD, flammability, etc.
- Collaborate with design teams and cost functions to optimize cost and performance.
- Take ownership of regional parts related to local programs.
- Use technical knowledge and project management skills to lead projects. Willingness to travel up to 10%.
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or an advanced degree with at least 3 years of related experience; alternatively a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government–issued security clearance (Secret).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience interpreting engineering drawings and vendor component data sheets.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with component obsolescence.
- Knowledge of electrical principles and electronic components.
- Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top-Secret.
- Experience with processes and procedures for component management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
