Overview

Senior Component Engineer – Supply Chain Engineering Team, Collins Aerospace (RTX)

US, various locations (Cedar Rapids, IA; Richardson, TX; Colorado Springs, CO; Windsor Locks, CT). Requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance. Current active Secret clearance is required;
Top‑Secret clearance may be obtained.

• Consult with Design Engineering on part selection, qualification, and design guidelines.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Address part shortages, obsolescence, and technology roadmap management.
• Review Bills of Materials to maximize component health and supply reliability.
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend new components, materials, or manufacturers for new product requirements and process improvements.
• Analyze parametric data and obsolescence prediction for assigned program components.
• Provide technical support for bidding, negotiating, data collection, and analysis, including reporting on hazards, shelf life, ESD, flammability, etc.
• Coordinate with Design, Producibility, and Design‑to‑Cost functions to achieve optimal performance at minimal cost.
• Take ownership of all regional parts for local programs.
• Lead projects and transfer technical knowledge.
• Travel up to 10% as required.

• Degree in STEM with minimum 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with minimum 3 years experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Minimum 3 years interpreting engineering drawings and vendor component data sheets.
• Minimum 2 years working with component obsolescence.
• Knowledge of electrical principles and electronic components.

• Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top‑Secret.
• Understanding of component management processes.
• Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Customer‑service experience, working with technical and non‑technical personnel.
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.

$86,800 – $165,200 USD depending on experience, function, and location.
