Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer II to work onsite in Richardson, TX or Cedar Rapids, IA, focusing on strategic nuclear deterrence and mission systems. As part of the Strategic Defense Solutions (SDS) team, you will apply model‑based systems engineering, Agile practices, and cybersecurity expertise to design and deliver secure, mission‑critical products.
Responsibilities- Develop systems engineering artifacts such as trade studies, system designs, requirement definitions, requirements allocation, traceability, ICD creation, integration plans, verification and qualification plans.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, user‑story refinement, and end‑of‑sprint demos.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders; troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions that keep projects on schedule and customers satisfied.
- Support the systems and cybersecurity engineering of next‑generation network, compute, and storage technologies from low Technology Readiness Level (TRL) to program‑of‑record production.
- Technical leadership exposure and mentorship within Mission Systems.
- Roles such as Model Based Systems Engineer, Tester, Scrum Master.
- Collaboration with security and crypto certification specialists and SAOC engineering team.
- Hands‑on experience with security‑hardened products and next‑generation systems engineering tools.
- Experience designing and developing distributed computing environments with industry‑standard protocols, including general‑purpose processing, switching, and LANs.
- System engineering experience capturing customer requirements, developing operations concepts, or defining and tracing system and subsystem requirements.
- Proficiency with Model‑Based Systems Engineering tools such as Magic Draw Cameo, Enterprise Architect, or similar SysML resources.
- Agile or Dev Ops experience as part of highly integrated teams across software, hardware, cyber, and systems teams.
- Degree in STEM and minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree; U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
- Current or active U.S. security clearance.
- Experience with MIL‑STD hardened environments and military specifications.
- Recent and relevant experience throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, including requirements capture, decomposition, design, integration, verification, and validation.
- Understanding of systems engineering deliverables such as requirements specs, interface control documents, and verification matrices.
- Experience collaborating with software and hardware teams to ensure integration and alignment with overall system architecture.

Salary range: 68,900 USD – 131,100 USD. Compensation is determined by role, function, experience, education, and key skills. Eligible employees may receive short‑term and long‑term incentive plans, depending on level and collective‑ bargaining status.
