Summary
As a staff Systems Engineer team lead for the Automation and Control Design group at Celestica, you will be responsible for leading multidiscipline development project teams, project level oversight such as proposal development, system requirements, technical direction, cost, schedule, and will be front facing with internal customers. The staff systems engineer team lead will also be responsible for developing electrical engineering staff capabilities and assignment of projects based on the needs of the business.
This role is a technical and project management leadership role and requires the ideal candidate to be able to support both aspects. Working within a global environment, the staff systems engineer will work with the various global regions to coordinate development efforts and technology road maps promoting interoperability.
- Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Provide leadership and oversight of projects assigned to the electrical/SW engineering group. This may include managing project schedule, cost, scope, and objectives
- Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the team on track
- Excellent understanding of electromechanical systems and mechanical components integration
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
- Provide technical leadership for capital projects, including automation system design, control system hardware, equipment design, control panel design, and instrumentation start-up and troubleshooting
- Development of technical standards, guidelines, and procedures in accordance with industry best practices for executing large projects
- Support manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting of operational issues in manufacturing, maintenance, validation, or capital projects
- Strong C/C++/C# skills
- Ability to work with the team to specify components and design control circuits (e.g., motor controls, machine safety, temperature control, power distribution, and low voltage control)
- Lead or participates in engineering design reviews as required
- Lead technical and business risk assessment including safety for projects assigned
- Applying AL algorithms to enhance productivity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills at multiple organizational levels
- 7+ years of related experience managing hardware/software designs, test, and integration
- 3 years required of direct people management
- Approximately 10% international travel
- Knowledge of OPC UA
- Knowledge of Solid Works Electrical
- Familiarity with Solid Works mechanical
- Working Knowledge of AL algorithms
- Knowledge of PLC programming with Siemens and Beckhoff products
- Knowledge of Cognex and Keyence vision systems
- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
