Position Summary

The Environmental Effects Engineering (EEE) organization at Collins Aerospace is seeking an EMC/EMI Project Engineer who will thrive at the intersection of engineering rigor and project execution. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage across the full product development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, requirements development, electrical design, hardware integration, and test verification/validation. This position will require you to independently manage multiple projects and technical tasks.

In this role, you will be a key contributor, applying your analog and digital design experience to tasks such as component assessments, PCB design and layout, circuit card build‑up. Efforts are typically to support nuclear radiation characterization testing of circuit card assemblies (CCA) for radio and display systems to ensure compliance in specialized environments such as Total Ionizing Dose, Neutron Displacement Damage, Ionizing Dose Rate, and Single Event Effects.

You’ll help prepare clear, well‑supported technical documentation, contribute to design reviews, and advise on risk mitigation strategies as part of a cross‑disciplinary team. A motivated engineer will thrive here, supported by deep subject‑matter expertise and the autonomy to innovate. You’ll be trusted with meaningful responsibility from day one, directly influencing product robustness while expanding your skills in an engaging and collaborative engineering environment.

If you’re energized by technical depth, hands‑on problem‑solving, and opportunities to grow while supporting a premier engineering capability, this role is a strong fit.

What You Will Do
  • Collaborate with a multi‑discipline team of Engineers to develop reliable, high‑performance hardware designs that meet system requirements and operational specifications.
  • Lead and execute circuit card design lifecycle activities including requirements capture, schematic capture, design documentation creation and maintenance, signal integrity analysis and validation, definition of board stack‑ups and routing guidelines, coordination, guidance, and review of printed wiring board (PWB) layouts, prototype board population (including soldering) and component placement, hardware troubleshooting and debug, development and execution of test plans and reports, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Hardware integration activities with system and software teams.
  • Design, document, test, and troubleshoot digital and analog hardware using core electrical engineering principles. Designs may include the use of FPGAs, processors, and DDR memory components, and industry interfaces, such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, USB, and RS-232.
  • Support qualification testing in collaboration with experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and environmental requirements.
