** Summary*
* This position is for a Senior Staff Packaging Engineer SME for Mechanical Concept Development. In this role, you will define the mechanical packaging and architecture of leading and competitive AI Rack systems, Compute, and Network systems, engage in new related technology research and study. As a member of the Customer Experience team, you will engage in deeper technical dialog and trade-off analysis with customers and key suppliers.
Additionally, the candidate should have a working knowledge of the interdependencies from other design disciplines such as compute, connectivity, management, power, and cooling subsystems that impact good mechanical design.
** Detailed Description*
* Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
+ Develop packaging specifications, requirements, & design packaging enhancements.
+ Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.
+ Guide RFQ and Celestica platform L11 Packaging solutions
+ Provide effective mechanical trade-off analysis and competitive guidance to engineering teams and customers.
+ Support System Requirements Documents (SRD) development, requirement compliance assessments, and technical proposals.
+ Act as a primary technical SME with customers on related mechanical topics, concepts, trade-offs, and proposals.
+ Perform DFx review, and through understanding of should cost analysis
+ Identify and resolve cross-functional and cross-discipline architectural issues
+ Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
+ Prepare test plans, reports, and technical documentation of project work assigned.
+ Present frequently to customers, senior management, & peers
+ Knowledge of all Environmental Tests including vibration, mechanical shock, temperature, altitude, humidity.
+ Work directly with design engineering, structural analysis FEA personnel manufacturing, engineering, and commercial customers
+ Provide remote field test support to programs as needed
+ Review supplier packaging designs & quotes
+ Research & recommend new packaging solutions to global team & customers
** Knowledge/Skills/Competencies*
* + Bachelor or master degree in mechanical or Packaging engineering
+ Min. 10+ years of direct working experiences in electronic product mechanical design, related to AI compute / networking / rack level product design experience is a MUST.
+ Familiar with STD's; MIL-STD-810, ISTA 2A/3, ASTM D4169 packaging testing and procedures, program & Supplier management, Environmental test, Shock, Vibrations, HALT, HASS, FMEA, Creo, ms-office
+
Experience with liquid cooling systems, modular chassis and cabled solutions
+
Experience with high volume production and high reliability and serviceable products
+ Good knowledge in material property, manufacturing process, tolerance analysis, stress analysis.
+ Good knowledge in sheet metal process, plastic injection molding.
+ Good knowledge in industrial standards and system level environmental compliance
+ Good skills with the use of CAD design tools, Creo is must
+ Good skills in Microsoft office software
+ Good team work attitude, collaboration and communication skills
+ Business travel possible (include the oversea travel)

+ Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
