Discover opportunities to make a difference  Collins Aerospace Strategic Defense Solutions group is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer intern to join our team onsite in Richardson, TX!

Our Mechanical Engineering intern participate in the design, development, and test of electronic equipment and integration kits for communication systems on military aircraft and transportable platforms. You will learn to work closely with fellow Mechanical Engineers as well as Systems, Electrical, and Manufacturing Engineering staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a product’s lifecycle.

What You Will Do:
  • With technical supervision, apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems.
  • Work with engineers and designers to produce models for components, parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
  • With technical oversight, execute tests for systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Communicate effectively in a cross-functional team.
What You Will Learn:
  • Collaboration in a multi-disciplinary team to create successful designs.
  • How to follow appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Documentation of development, analysis, and test data.
  • Processes associated with the various phases of the product development cycle.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Experience with Solidworks or similar 3D CAD software.
  • Experience with ANSYS or other mechanical analysis software.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
We Prefer:
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
