LJB offers challenging and rewarding assignments for co-op students and summer interns. Students work with experienced engineers and are exposed to a variety of civil engineering challenges. They also get the opportunity to work on real-world projects in a professional environment. We are filling a Civil Engineering Internship or Co-op in our Dallas, Texas office.
The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and able to manage tasks independently under engineering supervision.
Pay$18+ an hour
Civil Engineering Co-op General Requirements- Must be a civil engineering major at an accredited university
- Must be entering their Junior or Senior year of college
- Basic proficiency or classroom familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D is preferred but not required
- Some travel may be required
- U.S. citizenship required
Job Duties
- Work on job assignments related to civil engineering with a focus on municipal infrastructure planning and design.
- Perform routine engineering tasks under close supervision using well-established standards, procedures, and drawings
- Students will be exposed to civil design processes. Responsibilities may include assisting with:
- Drainage & Permitting:
Supporting drainage design, site grading, and preparing state and local permit applications. - Site & Roadway Design:
Designing roadway, pedestrian, and parking layouts for diverse site development projects. - Infrastructure & Utilities:
Assisting with utility designs for municipal engineering projects. - Digital Drafting:
Producing detailed engineering plans and construction drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D. - Data Analysis:
Developing project material quantities and cost estimates. - Field Operations:
Participating in site visits and part-time field inspections. - Team Support:
Assisting project managers and engineers with general technical and administrative tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to travel to various project sites not accessible by public transit
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction area
