Position Overview

The Wealth Advisor / Financial Planner is a client-facing role for someone with a passion for partnering with business owners in managing and growing their assets. This position reports to the Director of Financial Planning and works well for a person who thrives in a team atmosphere and a fast-paced environment, with client interaction throughout most of the day. The preferred candidate has already obtained the CFP® credential, has more than 5 years of experience as a leader in creating and delivering financial plans and investment recommendations, and is comfortable developing client relationships to capture and retain assets under management.

GWA works with a nationwide client base, so occasional meetings will need to be scheduled outside of normal business hours.

Key Responsibilities Client Relationship Management
  • Manage all aspects of the client-advisor relationship on behalf of GWA, including ongoing portfolio reviews, coordinating new investment strategies, and ensuring client requests are fulfilled in a timely manner
  • Develop long-term client relationships to capture future assets under management
  • Lead and attend both in-person and web-based (Zoom/Teams) client meetings
  • Monitor client accounts and review client records to ensure accuracy
Financial Planning & Advisory
  • Lead the clients’ financial planning process, including preparing and delivering financial reports, implementing recommendations, and working with other members of the financial planning team
  • Develop spreadsheets or models to evaluate financial planning topics and trade scenarios as needed
Cross-Functional & Business Development Support
  • Coordinate with outside professionals related to client management, such as attorneys, tax professionals, and M&A advisors
  • Work directly with the operations team to execute operational tasks and support higher-level operations-related projects
  • Support business development efforts, which may include attending prospect meetings, preparing reports or information for prospects, and managing follow-up discussions with prospects
  • Manage and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner; tasks are both recurring and ad hoc based on client needs
Investment & Portfolio Duties
  • Participate in investment and/or portfolio committee activities as needed, including reviewing macroeconomic themes, contributing to asset allocation policy, and performing due diligence on model portfolios and investment strategies
  • Place trades in alignment with firm investment and asset location philosophies
Qualifications
