Overview

US Oncology Network is looking for a Coding Analyst to join our team at Texas Oncology in Richardson, Texas. This full-time hybrid position supports the Research Billing Department located at 3001

E. President George Bush Hwy Suite 100. The typical work week is Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position is level 1 based on relevant experience.

What does the Coding Analyst do?

Working under limited supervision, the analyst performs billing and coding activities, assigning appropriate billing codes to patient accounts and ensuring accurate and complete claims. The role reports to the Business Office Director and supports compliance with the US Oncology Compliance Program.

Responsibilities
  • Review requests for coding changes based on payer denials to ensure accurate coding and billing.
  • Abstract relevant clinical information from records and assign ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes per guidelines.
  • Review and correct coding errors post-claim processing/denial, re-file corrected claims to payers.
  • Use LCD/NCD policies to ensure accurate coding for the CMS region.
  • Utilize coding tools such as Optum Encoder and CMS guidelines.
  • Maintain a coding accuracy of 95% or higher based on QA internal reviews.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of the AAPC Certified Professional Coder Exam required.
  • Minimum three years of medical coding experience required.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required.
  • Prior oncology experience preferred.
  • Prior medical billing experience preferred.
Physical Demands

Required to sit or stand and talk or hear during routine business hours. Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing are required.

Work Environment

Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic. Interaction with co-workers, management, and/or clients is required. Minimal travel by automobile to office sites may be required.
