POSITION SUMMARY

The Program Director for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program serves as the designated, qualified administrator responsible for the academic and administrative leadership of the program. The Program Director ensures curriculum quality and currency, supervises and develops faculty, oversees clinical education coordination, monitors student and program outcomes, and maintains the program in continuous compliance with ACCSC Standards of Accreditation, CAPTE requirements, and applicable state licensure and federal requirements.

/ SALARY RANGE

Hourly Range: $27-$30/hour, part time converting into full time as program scales up

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education
  • Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred. Academic credentials must be equal to or higher than the credential for the program of awards.
Licensure / Credentials
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state(s) in which the program operates.
  • Contemporary expertise in physical therapy education and practice, maintained through continuing education.
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of full-time post-licensure clinical experience as a PT or PTA.
  • Experience in didactic and/or clinical teaching; prior PTA or PT program teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Administrative, educational, and supervisory experience appropriate to program leadership.
DOCUMENTATION OF QUALIFICATIONS (MAINTAINED IN PERSONNEL FILE)
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Official transcripts documenting all degrees earned.
  • Copy of current, unrestricted PT or PTA license/certification and documentation of continuing education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide overall academic and administrative leadership for the Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Develop, review, and revise curriculum, course and laboratory objectives, and instructional and clinical materials to ensure alignment with contemporary practice, program objectives, and accreditation requirements.
  • Recruit, orient, supervise, schedule, and evaluate program faculty (didactic, laboratory, and clinical), including instructional observations.
  • Coordinate with the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE)/Director of Clinical Education and clinical sites to ensure quality clinical education experiences and affiliation agreements.
  • Support faculty in-service training and individual professional development plans and ensure faculty maintain contemporary expertise and required licensure.
  • Monitor and document student academic and clinical progress, advising, retention, and satisfactory academic progress.
  • Track and analyze program outcomes including retention, graduation, licensure examination (NPTE-PTA) pass rates, and graduate employment and maintain documentation for ACCSC and CAPTE reporting.
  • Establish and convene a Program Advisory Committee and incorporate its input into program improvement.
  • Support institutional accreditation and programmatic accreditation activities, including self-studies, annual reports, and Commission responses.
  • Oversee the adequacy, safety, and maintenance of laboratory equipment, learning resources, and facilities.
  • Assist with budgeting and resource planning for the program.
  • Enforce institutional, program, and safety policies and promote a professional, student-centered learning environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Education or campus leadership.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT & EVALUATION

The incumbent will participate in institutional in-service training, maintain an individual professional development plan to sustain current knowledge and skills in the field, and be subject to periodic performance evaluation, which may include classroom/laboratory observation, in accordance with ACCSC Standards and institutional policy.
