Job Summary
- The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking an Employment Immigration Specialist to support the University's employment-based immigration program within the Human Resources department. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-volume, compliance-driven environment that supports the recruitment and retention of international talent. Depending on experience and demonstrated proficiency, this role may be filled at the Immigration Specialist I or II level.

Candidates will support or independently manage employment-based immigration cases, including full in-house preparation and filing of H-1B petitions, and will collaborate with campus stakeholders, foreign nationals, and external counsel, as applicable, to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case processing.

The Employment Immigration Specialist I works under direct supervision and will build and apply foundational knowledge of employment-based immigration through hands-on case support and guided experience. The Employment Immigration Specialist II works independently and requires ownership of complex cases, application of regulatory knowledge, and the ability to provide guidance to departments and foreign nationals. The Immigration Specialists work directly with external immigration counsel on select case types, including employment-based permanent residency and other specialized petitions, while maintaining responsibility for institutional case preparation and compliance processes.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a commitment to compliance, accuracy, and professional communication in support of institutional immigration processes.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Immigration Specialist I:
Bachelor's Degree Three (3) years employment immigration experience. Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Immigration Specialist II:
Bachelor's degree Four (4) years employment immigration experience. Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Preferred

Education and Experience
- Experience preparing H-1B petitions, including exposure to or responsibility for LCA preparation and petition assembly, with increasing levels of independence preferred Experience evaluating positions for H-1B eligibility, including familiarity with SOC code selection and wage level considerations Experience preparing or supporting the preparation of Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) in compliance with Department of Labor requirements Experience drafting or supporting TN support letters and applying knowledge of TN eligibility requirements Experience supporting or coordinating employment-based permanent residency cases in collaboration with external immigration counsel Working knowledge of additional nonimmigrant visa classifications, including O‑1, F‑1 (including OPT and STEM OPT), and J‑1, as they relate to employment-based immigration Experience in a higher education or similar institutional immigration environment Experience using immigration case management systems and maintaining accurate case records Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply immigration regulations in a practical setting, with higher levels of independent application preferred Experience communicating with stakeholders, including departments, employees, and external partners, regarding immigration processes and requirements Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage…
