Immigration Specialist I or II

The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking an Employment Immigration Specialist to support the University's employment-based immigration program within the Human Resources department. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-volume, compliance-driven environment that supports the recruitment and retention of international talent. Depending on experience and demonstrated proficiency, this role may be filled at the Immigration Specialist I or II level.

Candidates will support or independently manage employment-based immigration cases, including full in-house preparation and filing of H-1B petitions, and will collaborate with campus stakeholders, foreign nationals, and external counsel, as applicable, to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant case processing.

Minimum Education and Experience
- Immigration Specialist I:
Bachelor's Degree Three (3) years employment immigration experience. Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Immigration Specialist II:
Bachelor's degree Four (4) years employment immigration experience. Equivalent years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Immigration Specialist I (Non-exempt) Performs duties under guidance while developing proficiency in employment-based immigration processes. Participate in the preparation and processing of employment-based immigration cases, including in-house preparation and filing of H-1B petitions, in support of the University's recruitment and retention of international employees Support the evaluation of positions for immigration eligibility, including exposure to or application of SOC code selection and related requirements Assist with or prepare Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) in accordance with Department of Labor requirements Draft or support the preparation of TN support letters and maintain working knowledge of TN eligibility requirements Support employment-based permanent residency case processing in coordination with external immigration counsel, including document collection and case preparation Maintain accurate case records, documentation, and tracking in accordance with institutional practices and immigration compliance requirements Communicate with campus departments, foreign nationals, and internal stakeholders regarding case status, documentation needs, and process requirements Maintain working knowledge of employment-based immigration processes, including H-1B, TN, and employment-related aspects of F-1, OPT and STEM OPT, and J-1 status Ensure compliance with applicable federal immigration regulations and institutional policies in all assigned work Collaborate with the International Student and Scholars Office on F-1 and J-1–related employment matters as needed Assist in preparing H-1B petitions under guidance, including document collection, basic position review, and supporting forms preparation Apply and continue to develop working knowledge of SOC code selection and position evaluation concepts Support LCA preparation and case assembly with oversight Assist with TN support letter drafting and basic eligibility review under supervision Provide support on employment-based permanent residency cases in coordination with internal staff and external counsel Maintain case tracking and documentation with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Build knowledge of immigration regulations, processes, and institutional procedures through hands-on experience Immigration Specialist II (Exempt) Independently manages employment-based immigration cases and serves as a resource for employment-based immigration matters.

Performs all duties of Immigration Specialist I independently and with minimal oversight, in addition to the following:
