Job Summary
Leading a Cloud database engineering and operations team, collaborating with Solutions Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Infrastructure Service Management, and designing and building infrastructure solutions/blueprints for the area of responsibility. Leading the creation of repeatable build‑kits to improve deployment times for non‑prod and prod environments, managing the technology lifecycle, transitioning knowledge to Operations, and providing level‑3 support when required. Supporting End User Compute, Collaboration, Network & Voice, and Distributed Software.
Delivering technical expertise in cloud architecture, leading key cloud‑based infrastructure decisions, developing processes and standards for cloud and automation services, and designing and implementing infrastructure management tools.
Hybrid role:
Chicago, IL or Richardson, TX. Relocation not offered. Sponsorship (including OPT) not available.
- Lead cloud database engineering and operations team.
- Collaborate with Solutions Engineering, Infrastructure Operations, and Infrastructure Service Management on design and build of infrastructure solutions/blueprints.
- Develop and implement repeatable build‑kit patterns to improve deployment times.
- Manage lifecycle for technology area of responsibility.
- Transition knowledge to Infrastructure Operations.
- Provide level‑3 support for area of responsibility when required.
- Support End User Compute, Collaboration, Network & Voice, and Distributed Software.
- Lead cloud architecture formulation and execution; make key architecture and cloud‑based infrastructure decisions.
- Develop processes, procedures, policies, and standards for cloud and automation services.
- Design, build, and implement infrastructure management tools for the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6 years in Information Technology focused on cloud orchestration or 10 years in IT focused on cloud orchestration.
- 3 years experience in cloud technologies and automation.
- 1 year experience in IT infrastructure & operations management and/or leadership.
- Experience with cloud orchestration and management technologies.
- Experience with end‑to‑end configuration management, CI/CD, release engineering, and provisioning.
- Familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, or equivalent.
- Experience migrating custom‑built and enterprise apps from on‑prem to cloud.
- Working knowledge of Cosmos, Postgres, and MS SQL Server PaaS offerings in Microsoft Azure public cloud.
- Working knowledge of Ansible Automation Platform for provisioning and administering cloud resources.
- Experience implementing ARM templates for provisioning Azure PaaS databases.
- Experience maintaining infrastructure as code from development through ongoing maintenance.
- Knowledge of operations management, IT standards, procedures, and policies.
- Experience with SaaS, monitoring, event management, and automation technologies.
- ITIL v3 experience.
- Experience with PMO structures, processes, and methods.
- Experience with demand/portfolio and resource management.
- Ability to simplify and standardize complex concepts/processes and drive cross‑functional execution.
- Adaptability and ability to introduce and manage change.
- Master’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Operations management experience.
- Experience with end‑user computing and collaboration technologies (e.g., O365, Lotus Notes).
- Experience with network and voice technologies, software‑defined networking, etc.
- Experience with distributed software (e.g., Apache, IIS, Web Sphere, Tomcat, Open Stack).
- Experience with additional SaaS technologies and ITIL v3 expertise.
- Understanding of business priorities, trends, and markets.
- Organized, detail‑oriented, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience in supplier management.
- Ability to prioritize and make trade‑off decisions.
