Job Overview

The Director of Supply Chain and Warehouse Operations is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s comprehensive supply chain, logistics, and warehouse strategies, with a special focus on perishables. This position involves proactive sourcing, planning for supply needs, and cost management to ensure a just‑in‑time flow of goods from suppliers through our warehouse to the end user.

The role demands continuous evaluation of logistics and warehouse processes and infrastructure to align with future needs and contingencies, while also ensuring regulatory compliance in all areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage teams across supply chain, logistics, and warehouse operations.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluation of personnel in these departments.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to maintain a unified approach to supply chain and warehouse management.
Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive supply chain and warehouse strategies, with a particular focus on sourcing perishables and just‑in‑time logistics.
  • Proactively source and plan for supply needs, analyzing costs to ensure efficient and timely flow from suppliers to the warehouse and ultimately to the end user.
  • Manage the full spectrum of supply chain logistics, including procurement, inventory control, and distribution of perishable goods.
  • Continually evaluate and upgrade logistics and warehouse processes, systems, and infrastructure to meet future business demands and contingency scenarios.
  • Implement advanced warehouse management systems for accurate inventory tracking and optimized storage solutions.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, vendors, and logistics providers, focusing on cost‑effectiveness, reliability, and quality.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and maintain the quality of perishable products throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local, state, federal, and international regulations in all areas of supply chain and warehouse operations.
  • Monitor and report on supply chain and warehouse performance metrics, driving continuous improvement.
  • Manage and adhere to the department’s budget.

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes impacting supply chain and warehouse operations.
Qualifications Technical Skills
  • Expertise in supply chain and warehouse management systems, especially for perishables.
  • Proficiency in just‑in‑time logistics and cost‑effective inventory management.
  • Knowledgeable in forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Management Skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in large‑scale team management.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
Communication Skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strategic Thinking
  • Strategic planner with a focus on developing and implementing effective supply chain and warehouse operations.
  • Analytical and detail‑oriented approach.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in supply chain and warehouse management, with an emphasis on perishables.
  • At least 5 years in a senior management role within supply chain and warehouse operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work long hours as needed.
  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites, warehouses, and distribution centers.
Work Environment
  • Office environment with regular on‑site visits to warehouses and distribution centers.
  • Regular interaction with various levels of management, external partners, and vendors.
