As a Fire Inspector, you’ll serve as a technical expert responsible for maintaining and inspecting campus fire sprinkler and alarm systems, ensuring compliance with all NFPA and ICC code requirements.

Minimum Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a related field. Three (3) years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position: ability to raise, lower, and transport objects weighing up to 50 pounds and to walk by moving about on foot for extended periods.
PreferredEducation and Experience
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, or a related field. (Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.) A background in fire protection systems is preferred.
Licenses:
- Texas Fire Extinguisher License (FEL)

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems and sprinkler equipment in compliance with NFPA codes, state regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and routine preventative maintenance on fire alarm control panels, devices, and sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre‑action).
- Complete and maintain inspection reports, work orders, and required documentation per fire code regulations.
- Replace or install components such as smoke detectors, strobes, relays, batteries, and fire extinguishers as needed.
- Manage inventory and storage of life safety equipment and supplies; keep accurate records.
- Track system impairments and enter testing data into the fire safety database.
- Coordinate with vendors for regular inspections of fire extinguishers, alarm systems, and sprinklers.
- Collaborate with IT to update fire safety information on campus maps.
