Process Technician

Volt is immediately hiring for a Process Technician in Richardson, Texas.
Process Technician, you will:
- Set up, program, and operate SMT equipment, including solder paste printers, SPI, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and AOI systems
- Verify and optimize machine setups for production runs and NPI (New Product Introduction) builds
- Monitor yield performance, SPC trends, and in-process quality metrics, including FPV and IPI
- Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and perform root cause analysis to improve performance
- Maintain, calibrate, and support preventive maintenance activities on SMT equipment
- Develop and optimize reflow profiles and maintain critical process parameters
- Inspect solder joints and assembly quality to ensure compliance with IPC standards
- Collect and analyze process data and maintain accurate documentation and work instructions
- Support line efficiency initiatives, cycle time reduction efforts, and continuous improvement projects
- Train and support operators while providing real-time production floor support
- Collaborate with engineering teams on product dispositions, process improvements, and implementation of process changes
This is a full-time, Direct Hire opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree in Electronics, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years of SMT or electronics manufacturing experience
- Hands-on experience with SMT equipment, including printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and AOI systems
- Knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes, including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with operations, engineering, and production teams
- Ability to analyze process data and support continuous improvement initiatives
Preferred experience includes:
- PCB assembly and/or semiconductor manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with IPC standards, including IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001
- Experience supporting NPI and high-mix manufacturing operations
- Knowledge of SPC methodologies and process control techniques
Work Environment:
- Factory manufacturing environment requiring cleanroom attire and protective equipment
- Bending, twisting, lifting up to 25 pounds, and standing for extended periods of time are required
- Hands-on work with SMT production equipment and manufacturing processes
- Fast-paced environment supporting production and engineering activities
Salary: 43K - 58K
Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
