Abatement Attendant

Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs work in support of Code Enforcement compliance. Maintains City owned properties. Clean up illegal dump sites and removal of trash from public right of ways. Report to the Abatement Supervisor.

• Provides Abatement services for Non
  - Compliant Code Enforcement Cases. This includes mowing, trimming, trash removal, tree and brush removal.
• Maintain City owned Lots throughout Greenville. This includes mowing, trimming, trash removal and tree maintenance.
• Perform clean-up of illegal dump sites and Right of Ways within the City at the request of City Management.
• Service and maintain small equipment assigned to the Abatement Department. This includes mowers, trimmers, blowers and chainsaws.
• Maintain records of all Abatement and City Lots.
• Assist other Departments.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED.
• Licenses:
  Class C Texas Drivers License.

• Experience operating commercial lawn care equipment. Operate Chainsaws, String or Blade trimmers and leaf blowers. Operate Zero Turn mowers.
• Must be able to operate tractors and attached equipment, including mowers and loaders. Operate a Backhoe.
• Drive city owned trucks. Operate both utility and dump trailers. Knowledge of DOT requirements for securing trailer loads.
• Ability to use small tools including hand and power tools.
• Must be able to read and use maps to locate properties and property lines.
• Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions related to the job and job performance. Must be willing to follow all Safety Guidelines provided by the city.

Ability to pick up, push, pull and carry items up to 50 pounds. Ability to load 50 pounds into a trailer of chest height. With assistance, ability to load items heavier than 50 pounds. Ability to freely bend, kneel, twist and balance and grip while performing assigned tasks. Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate. Ability to climb ladders.

Ability to traverse uneven, hilly or muddy terrain. Ability to work in all types of weather conditions. Ability to tolerate exposure to the sun, dust, wind, insects and foliage.
