Job Summary

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Professor Alexander Adibekian in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas  are seeking a specialist in target identification of complex natural products to join a collaborative research group working at the interface of chemistry and biology. The successful candidate will apply chemoproteomic and chemical biology approaches, particularly photocatalytic proximity labeling, to identify and characterize the protein targets of bioactive natural products, with the goal of elucidating their mechanisms of action and informing the development of new therapeutic leads.

Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D in a related field.

Candidates who have successfully completed all requirements for the Ph.D. but whose degree has not yet been formally conferred may be eligible to begin employment provided they submit an official letter from the Registrar or Graduate School of the degree-granting institution certifying that all doctoral requirements have been satisfied and specifying the expected date of conferral. Appointment and continued employment are contingent upon formal conferral of the Ph.D.

Preferred

Education and Experience

* PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field

* Demonstrated expertise in chemoproteomics, specifically photocatalytic proximity labeling

* Mixed background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, organic synthesis, and biochemistry

* Written and oral communication skills with a proven record of scientific accomplishment

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Plan, conduct, and direct a wide variety of experiments.

* Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data.

* Conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods and procedures.

* Develop research protocols and supervise graduate or undergraduate researchers.

* Prepare written reports and contribute to the writing of research articles.
