Job Summary

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing in the School of Behavioral & Brain Sciences (BBS) at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is inviting applicants for two post-doctoral research associate positions under the direction of Dr. Ioulia Kovelman in the Language and Brain Development Laboratory. The research program is to work on an NIH-funded project on studying dyslexia and language disorders in bilingual children using functional near-infrared spectroscopy neuroimaging (fNIRS).

This project examines topics related to the neurobiology of language and reading, bilingualism, as well as impairments of language such as dyslexia. Project expectations include data analyses and manuscript preparation, and supervision of research projects.

Dr. Kovelman will provide direct supervision and mentoring, including support in research, grant applications, and job applications. This will be done in the context of individual weekly meetings. The laboratory will also sponsor an annual conference presentation offering research and professional development opportunities. Postdoctoral fellows further have access to professional career advancement opportunities provided by the research laboratory and open to students of all levels of training.

This includes weekly group meetings to exchange research ideas and to mutually support grant and job applications, manuscript preparations, conference and talk presentation practice.

The salary for Post-Doctoral Research Associates in BBS is determined by years of experience per the current NIH (NRSA) stipend levels. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. This appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal. Continued employment is contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
