Job Summary

Join a dynamic and collaborative research environment at the University of Texas at Dallas as a Postdoctoral Research Associate focused on the neurobiology of visceral pain, including endometriosis and related conditions. This opportunity is based within the Department of Neuroscience and the highly collaborative Center for Advanced Pain Studies in Richardson, TX.

This role is ideal for candidates passionate about advancing understanding of pain mechanisms through innovative research. The position centers on testing novel hypotheses related to endometriosis-associated pain, with a strong emphasis on both the peripheral and central nervous systems. Research spans molecular to systems-level approaches using animal models and human cell biology, providing a broad and impactful scientific experience.

You will work with a set of cutting-edge methodologies, including animal behavior, molecular biology, in vivo imaging, in vitro calcium imaging, and electrophysiology to uncover the neurobiological mechanisms of pain. Candidates with experience in pain or related behavioral paradigms in mice and/or rats will be especially well-prepared to contribute immediately.

This position is mentored by Drs. Benedict Kolber and Katelyn Sadler, whose labs are integral to a thriving research community. The Center for Advanced Pain Studies offers rich opportunities for collaboration with postdoctoral fellows, trainees, and faculty across disciplines, fostering both scientific growth and professional development.

In addition to research, the role may involve mentoring students and laboratory staff and contributing to a safe and compliant research environment through adherence to university safety guidelines.

The salary for Post-Doctoral Research Associates in BBS is determined by years of experience per the current NIH (NRSA) stipend levels. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications. This appointment is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal. Continued employment is contingent on availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
